"On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful"

We arrived Thursday to Puerto Escondido, the Oaxaca Coast, after a 6 hour bus ride. Thanks to Jen for the motion sickness medicine or I never would have made it. The road, 175, was very windy....but very scenic. Once again, things went very smoothly. We got off the bus, split a cab with 2 amigos from England and found a place to stay. It´s a cabana by the sea. It´s be best, and cheapest, place we´ve stayed thus far. We sleep in huts basically with mosquito nets over our beds. The sound of the crashing ocean was in my ear all night long. It´s heaven. We played cards with some locals last night. It´s challenging, yet fun, to play cards with people who don´t speak your language. We just set the spanish-english dictionary on the table and taught one another.

Today we laid on the beach and I am as red as a lobster, and I even put on several layers of SPF 25. My legs are red in front and white in the back...note to self....flip over mid-day. Then Jen and I went to Restaurant Alicias where we were served fresh fish, tortillas, rice, fries, bread, and salsa for $3.50. YUM! The fish was served whole, with the head attatched and all. It was delicious! Our cabana is $5/night. We just walked to the lighthouse and watched the sunset.

Tomorrow will be another day on the beach. We sat today with Omar, a local, and practiced our spanish more. Tonight we may go dancing at Ole Ole.

On a sidenote, Jen and I have each woken up DAILY with a dumb boyband/teen bop song stuck in our heads and it we can´t seem to kick the habit. We sing them all day long! Could this be some sort of omen?

I promise to post pictures this weekend!
